National Apartment Council Hosts London Engagement Session to Advance Rental Housing Policy Solutions

Published on 22 Oct, 2025

London, ON – Oct. 22, 2025 – The National Apartment Council hosted a major regional engagement session in London, Ontario, bringing together 30+ developers to discuss practical solutions to Canada’s housing supply crisis.

London’s steady growth and strong rental demand made it the perfect setting for a discussion on bridging policy and practice to accelerate new housing delivery. The session focused on strategies to accelerate purpose-built rental construction and ensure long-term housing affordability. Participants explored how collaboration between government and private industry can drive innovation, investment, and the efficient delivery of new rental homes across the country.

The National Apartment Council presented its key federal advocacy priorities, including modernizing the MURB program, ensuring fair and consistent HST reassessment policies, and strengthening CMHC financing tools.

“All of today’s conversations reinforced that the rental housing supply crisis demands coordinated action,” said Allan Drewlo, President of Drewlo Holdings. “London demonstrated how developer leadership, policy innovation, and government collaboration can deliver results.”

“The National Apartment Council ensures that Canada’s rental developers have a strong, unified voice in federal housing policy,” said Derek Lobo, President and Founder of the National Apartment Council. “Our London session reflected that mission – turning industry experience into actionable policy insight.”

The session highlighted how developer insight and policy innovation can align to improve financing certainty, reduce delivery timelines, and strengthen long-term affordability. The London session marked the second in a series of regional developer engagements hosted by the National Apartment Council, following the successful Winnipeg launch earlier this fall. Upcoming sessions will take place in Calgary on Nov. 05, 2025, and Edmonton on Nov. 06, 2025, with additional events planned for Vancouver, Montreal, and Halifax. These sessions are building a unified industry voice ready to partner with government to deliver rental housing at scale.
